Summary
The Incachiriasca Lagoon is located in the Historic Sanctuary and Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu, near the snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay. It is one of the lakes that were the subject of underwater research between 2016 and 2017. The area surrounding the snow-capped Salkantay mountain offers day-long hiking trails that could include panoramic views of lakes and mountains, such as Humantay Lake.
Itinerary
Inkachiriasqa Nevado Salkantay Lagoon Tour (1D)
We will start with pick-up at your hotel or Airbnb at 3:30 a.m. or we will meet at the Plazoleta de Regocijo, and then we will travel for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to the district of Limatambo (2,557 m.a.s.l.) where we will have a delicious breakfast. Then we will continue the trip for approximately 2 hours to the Waywakunka pass (4,774 m.a.s.l.) where we will begin the 4 km Salkañan TREK (wild trail). (one way) for approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes to the enigmatic Inkachiriasqa Lagoon (4,735 m.a.s.l.), where we will have time to explore the Inkachiriasqa and Concepción or Fertility Lagoons, as well as contemplate the Apu Salkantay (6,289 m.a.s.l.). We will then return to the Waywakunka pass and explore the Qoyllor Lagoon. Next, we will board our transport to return to the district of Limatambo, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco.
